Ryan’s journey into law began at Bates College in Lewiston, where he cultivated his foundational knowledge while serving as student body president. He pursued his law degree at the University of Maine School of Law in 2023 and was admitted to the Maine Bar Association later that year.

While pursuing his legal education, Ryan embarked on a unique path to gain practical experience. He served an elected term on Portland’s Charter Commission from 2021 to 2022, where he played a pivotal role in editing the city’s charter. This experience exposed him to the nuances of Municipal Law, a field that would become a focal point of his legal career. Additionally, during law school, Ryan interned with the Maine Department of Marine Resources, working on aquaculture policy for the state. He also contributed to the Maine Audubon, collaborating with the director of advocacy on policy-making and lobbying efforts in Augusta. Furthermore, Ryan clerked at the Law Offices of Joe Bornstein, where he gained valuable insights into personal injury law.

Ryan’s dedication and passion for his practice have earned him recognition. In 2022, he received the Shur Frinsko Award for Municipal Law and Local Governance from the University of Maine School of Law. This accolade was a result of his outstanding contribution as a member of the Charter Commission and academic excellence in local government law, reflecting his commitment to serving the community.
