Candace T. Augustine, Esq., brings a vibrant spirit and more than a decade of legal expertise to Rudman Winchell. Her passion for aiding individuals in navigating the complexities of law stems from her genuine commitment to improving lives through estate planning and elder law.

Candace’s legal journey began at Western State College of Law in Irvine, California, where she graduated in 2008. Initially drawn to estate planning during law school, her focus extended to include elder law after an inspiring class from a distinguished elder law practitioner. Over her 15 years in practice, she’s navigated various legal terrains, working extensively in estate planning, proactive long-term care planning, crisis care planning, and special needs planning.

Candace’s expertise lies in proactively preserving assets for long-term care, addressing crisis care planning for Maine Care qualification, and ensuring asset protection for individuals with disabilities. Her career hasn’t been driven by high-profile cases or contentious court hearings; instead, her commitment to finding personalized solutions for each of her clients drives her practice every day.

Her approach to understanding clients’ unique needs extends beyond paperwork, viewing each meeting as a chance to genuinely connect. Candace values building relationships, adopting her clients’ concerns as her own, and treating them like family. She firmly believes that forging strong relationships with her clients allows her to delve deeper into her clients’ goals, ensuring that her legal strategies resonate with their distinct situations.

Candace is admitted to practice in Maine, the U.S. District Court, District of Maine, and the Penobscot Nation Tribal Court. Active in professional bodies like the Penobscot County Bar Association and the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys, Candace remains engaged in continuous legal education, collaborating with various networks to stay updated on legal developments. She also serves on advisory boards for the AMICUS group, which provides services to developmentally disabled adults, and the Collins Center for the Arts at the University of Maine.

Candace’s success hinges on her team-oriented and supportive nature. She actively encourages an office culture of opportunity for all. Outside the legal sphere, she’s an enthusiastic hockey mom, relishing moments spent cheering for her daughters on the ice. Her diverse interests include avid reading, travel (outside of hockey season), and an unabashed love for everything Disney. Candace and her family have a golden retriever named Penny and two kittens, Hamilton and Pudgy Budep.

Candace’s unique blend of legal expertise and heartfelt empathy fosters a welcoming environment for clients. She invites individuals seeking comprehensive estate planning, special needs planning, elder law, and asset protection solutions to connect for an engaging and informative conversation.
