Dan McCue
Associate Attorney

About
Daniel K. McCue is a real estate and corporate transactions attorney with the Business Law & Civil Litigation practice groups at Rudman Winchell, where he works with clients at all stages of business development, from individuals to start-ups and multinational corporations. His work specializes in real estate transactions, financial securities, mergers and acquisitions, private equity placements, real estate investment trusts (REITS), special purpose action committees (SPACs), data privacy regulations, and advising executives on how to handle complex regulatory and litigation risks.
A Maine native, Dan joined Rudman Winchell to expand his practice of helping Maine companies compete in the national economy and better manage their portfolios. Prior to joining Rudman Winchell, Dan worked as a financial analyst at a hedge fund in Boston, as an attorney for a large law firm in Portland, ME, and as a solo practicing attorney specializing in civil litigation. These career experiences inform the legal advice Dan brings to his clients in his everyday practice of law.
Outside the courtroom, Dan is a sports enthusiast. His favorite sports memories are helping his alma mater Hampden Academy win its first ever Class A Basketball State Championship in 2005 and captaining the MIT Engineers basketball team to their first ever National Final Four Appearance in 2012. While at MIT, he earned a Bachelor of Science in Economics and worked in the Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program (UROP) and the MIT International Science & Technology Initiative (MISTI), where he developed a passion for working with companies seeking to outperform their competitors through more accurate economic and financial modeling.
Dan’s legal career began with the Center for Law + Innovation at the University of Maine School of Law, where he earned his J.D. while helping work on Maine Law’s information privacy program in conjunction with the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP). While at Maine Law, Dan was an IAPP privacy fellow and externed at the Information Commissioner’s Office in London, where he built databases related to compliance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). He also served as a staff member and editor of the Maine Law Review and was selected for the Charles A. Harvey Trial Practice Immersion Fellowship, where he spent twelve weeks shadowing Maine’s top litigators.
Commercial transactions that Dan handles frequently are corporate and non-profit entity formations, real estate closings, trusts and estates, letters of intent (LOI) and option contracts, requests for quotes (RFQs) and proposals (RFPs), competitive sealed bids (CSBs), digital asset and currency transfers, privacy policy reviews, data privacy regulatory opinions, and business rescue plans and liquidations. Companies looking to keep pace with changes in commercial data practices will benefit greatly and avoid unnecessary mistakes or penalties with the experience Dan has governing corporate data collection, processing, and transfers.
When Dan isn’t working, he enjoys travelling and hiking with his wife Tiffany and their two children, either along the Maine coast or some place warm. He also enjoys lacing up the basketball shoes when he still can, golfing, and coaching youth sports. When he isn’t busy outside work, you can find him supporting local restaurants and art venues of the greater Bangor area.
